BEIJING, Sep 2 – The Russian Energy Ministry expects a gas agreement with China to be signed in October, Minister Alexander Novak told PRIME Tuesday.
“Our deadline is October. This month we must fully coordinate the final text of the agreement with the Chinese side and sign it,” Novak said.
In May, gas giant Gazprom signed a U.S. $400 billion 30-year contract with CNPC under which the company will supply 38 billion cubic meters of gas to China per year. Now the countries’ governments are coordinating a corresponding intergovernmental agreement. The first supplies under the contract are expected to start in 4-6 years.
